After fighting with addiction for decades Joey and Danny  have come a long way. Today, they speak with Tabitha Gabbard about her techniques to change the course of your life and developing resilience that can help you live a more fulfilling life. Featured as a keynote speaker for events that advocate for systemic change for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, She is passionate about connecting with people in recovery.

In this episode, we sit with Tabitha to understand her journey growing up in a dysfunctional home filled with drug addiction, sexual abuse and poverty. From correctional facilities, foster care system, early pregnancy, to getting clean, overcoming adversity and freeing herself to live differently from what her environment could offer, Tabatha today uses her story to serve and empower others. 


She is a passionate advocate for women in recovery, specifically focusing her work on women with trauma in recovery. Tabitha’s passion for recovery, both from trauma and addictions was born out of her own experience and has continued to fuel her zeal for helping others. 

Since then, she has obtained several post-secondary degrees, most recently graduating with honors, and receiving her master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University. Tabitha is currently employed as an Addictions Therapist at a CMHC. She launched a Celebrate Recovery Ministry in her community and continues to serve women who are incarcerated in the community she lives in through the JCAP and Work Release Programs. 


So what is adversity?

In simple terms, adversity is defined as a difficult moment or circumstance in life.
